About the 2019 IAME Championship 2019

As a British Championship class since 2013, IAME Cadet requires no introduction. On graduating from this category, many young drivers opt for X30 Mini, using full-sized 125cc water cooled IAME TAG (touch and go) motors, albeit in heavily restricted form.

By simply altering the restrictor size, competitors can switch to X30 Junior, a class that has been extremely popular since its inception in 2015. Remove the restrictor altogether and you are ready for a step up into Senior X30 ranks.

All X30 classes run on Komet tyres, with Dunlops for cadets. The motors remain unsealed, allowing for easy access and maintenance. A growing number of X30 competitors run from team awnings but these classes also remain quite popular with privateers. Some of Europe’s top kart stars have emerged from these classes, including Callum Bradshaw, Dexter Patterson, Jonny Edgar, Harry Thompson and Kai Askey.

Who will be the drivers to watch in 2019? That’s difficult to answer. In cadets, Freddy Slater will start as a firm favourite but Aiden Neate, Harley Keeble, Brandon Carr, Harry Burgoyne and Vinnie Phillips also spring to mind, along with Kean Nakamura-Berta, who has been a revelation lately.

Mini X30 is being contested as a championship class for the first time this year. Watch out for Luke Watts, Alfie Briggs, Jessica Edgar and Luis Gardner who should all feature prominently. We can expect the likes of Georgi Dimitrov, Josh McLean, Zac Meakin, Tom Edgar and Tyler Read to be front runners in Juniors, while senior stars Oliver Hodgson, Callum Bradshaw Thomas Turner, Harry Platten and Paul Stewart will be difficult to beat.
