The Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championships has moved into top gear for the summer after announcing a new partnership with world-class sports and travel luggage manufacturers, OGIO.

The innovative and forward-thinking brand will become the official luggage partner of both the British Kart Championships (BKC) and the Rokit F4 British Championship in 2022. The new relationship will also see OGIO enlisted on the Motorsport UK Member Benefits Programme, offering Motorsport UK members an attractive 25 per cent discount on a range of products from its impressive product catalogues.

Formed in 1987, OGIO is a perfect fit for the competitive world of the BKC where adaptability, longevity and precision are key factors in Britain’s premier karting series. A leading innovator of sports luggage and backpacks, OGIO’s collections fuse performance, sports, and lifestyle, with a focus on organisation, durability, protection, ergonomics, mobility and sustainability, backed up by being official luggage partner of the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One team.

The company is proudly known as an industry-leading manufacturer of some of the highest-quality performance bags in the world, and all BKC class champions will receive a branded OGIO backpack at the end of the season to celebrate their success.

The BKC has gone from strength to strength since its reinvigoration by Motorsport UK in 2019, firmly stamping its mark as one of the leading kart championships in Europe. Home to some of the fastest young drivers in the country and beyond, the BKC is regarded as the perfect stepping stone into international competition or other racing disciplines, with the likes of seven-times F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and fellow British drivers Lando Norris and George Russell all cutting their teeth at British national level karting.

“We are delighted to welcome OGIO as the official luggage partner of the Wera Tools British Kart Championships,” said Dan Parker, Motorsport UK karting manager.

“It is an exciting brand which fits perfectly with the BKC and the demanding world of top-level karting, which requires both drivers and their equipment to operate faultlessly, every time, to be successful. The OGIO range of storage and luggage solutions is the perfect match for both our karters and our Motorsport UK members, and I`m very excited for the BKC to be partnering with this innovative brand this season.”

Michael Birch, OGIO’s sales and marketing manager for the EMEA region, said “Having already teamed up with the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One team, it’s fantastic news to announce this new partnership in the exciting world of motor racing.

“The BKC is one of the most recognized names in the sport and has a proven track record for producing drivers of the highest quality. Here at OGIO, we share many of the same attributes including dedication, passion, innovation and hard work, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them on this new venture.”

The Wera Tools British Kart Championships has already enjoyed four blistering events this season and will now head to Glay-Y-Gors this weekend [17-19 June] where the IAME, KZ2 and Bambino contenders will battle for supremacy at the popular North Wales track.
