After five pulsating rounds of the Wera Tools British Kart Championships in 2022, contenders in the Rotax and Honda Cadet classes will head for Whilton Mill this weekend [14-16 October] where each category will crown a champion.

The battle for the prestigious honour of being a British Kart champion will be played out over a double-header weekend and with four points scoring opportunities up for grabs, each class title will undoubtedly be hard-earned.

The 1200-metre Northamptonshire circuit offers a fast and flowing challenge for the championship protagonists and the perfect host to bring the curtain down on yet another blistering BKC season.

A stellar entry list in the Mini Max, Junior Rotax and Senior Rotax classes will be bolstered by the closely contested Honda Cadet racers, each rounding out their season.

The weekend will also host a special Micro Max event where the winner will qualify for the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals at the Kartodromo Internacional do Algarve in November.

The action gets underway on Friday with Practice, whilst thanks to being a doubleheader, Saturday and Sunday each enjoy Timed Qualifying, Heats and Finals.

All the action from Sunday will be broadcast on the BKC LIVE page, YouTube and Facebook.

Classes

Mini Max

Noah Wolfe [Synergy Racing Developments] heads into the final weekend of 2022 with a slender 15-point lead over DHR’s Scott Marsh and enjoyed one top score apiece last time out at Kimbolton.

It’s looking likely that the Mini Max champion will be either of the young racers, but with dropped scores to come into effect, it could well bring third-place Sebastian Minns [KR Sport] into play, although he is currently 54 points adrift of Marsh.

The race for the final step of the podium in the category will also be an interesting watch, with around 4 drivers in with a chance of rounding out their season in the top three of the championship.

Junior Rotax

There is a lot of `65` scores against Brandon Carr’s [KR-Sport] name this season and that would explain the 66-point lead in Junior Rotax. In fact, he has taken top-scoring opportunities five times in a row and heads into the weekend on fine form.

Vinnie Phillips [Strawberry Racing] is chasing in earnest but a less than favorable points haul last time out has given him work to do if he is to catch Carr and take the title.

He does have the benefit of a 76-point gap to third which is occupied by Charlie Hart [Sam Pollitt Racing], so a champion is likely to come from either of the top two contenders.

There have been some stellar performances during the season from a huge range of Junior Rotax pilots which could well shake up the title fight.

Senior Rotax

Callum Bradshaw [Strawberry Racing] took the lead in the Senior Rotax standings at Clay Pigeon with a healthy points haul to nudge Kai Hunter [DHR] down to second. But Hunter is more than capable of grabbing top drawer points so a thrilling battle is sure to ensue.

Guy Cunnington [Strawberry Racing] is third but has yet to win a Final this season whilst Lewis Gilbert [Potenza Racing Engines] edged into fourth in the last meeting, vaulting ahead of Matthew Higgins [DHR].

Honda Cadet

This will be tight! Honda Cadets are renowned for their insanely close on-track action and the championship standings replicate that close cut nature. Jarrett Clark [Synergy Racing Developments] is out front but just 14 points behind is Kenzo Craigie [Zip Factory Team] and even with drop scores at play, the fight for the title could go well down the championship leaderboard.

Noah Barham and Max Endacott sit third and fourth respectively for Synergy whilst Finlay Lines [Zip Factory Team] rounds out the top five. Less than 100 points separate the top eight, underlining the closeness of the racing in the series, and predicting a champion with four points scoring opportunities to come would be a tough ask.

Micro Max

A ticket to the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Portugal is on offer and with such high stakes, the racing is fierce. Sixteen young racers will line up for the coveted prize but they also include Laughlin Johnstone [SFR Motorsport] and Daniel Minto [Hunter Motorsport] who have already secured their place in the Grand Finals.

Jenson Chalk [MLC Motorsport] also returns for one last attempt at heading to Portugal after going head-to-head with Minto at Clay Pigeon, only losing out on the final lap.
