This month’s Wera Tools Rotax British Open Kart Championships [17-19 March] is all set to be one of the largest `O plate` meetings in decades, as over 220 entries will head for Whilton Mill for the prestigious event.

The bumper list of entries has now been revealed with a staggering number of drivers set to line up on the grid across four Rotax classes, including the all-new Micro Max and Mini Max 950 categories, and familiar Junior and Senior contenders.

Northamptonshire’s 1200-metre circuit offers a fast and flowing challenge for eager racers and is the perfect host for what is set to be a closely fought weekend of racing. The superb new asphalt paddock will be available to competitors who will vie for the chance to sport the “O Plate” for the 2023 season.

The new Micro Max Cadet and Mini Max 950 Inter categories will launch into their maiden Open Championship meeting and will also be eligible for the new Rotax Life incentive draw which offers 50 lucky drivers registered for the British Kart Championships, the chance to get a 50% discount off their first entry of the season.

The event will be streamed online thanks to BKC broadcaster partners Alpha Live, and there is a familiar feel to the weekend thanks to all the benefits of Britain’s premier kart championship.

That includes support from the UK Rotax distributors JAG Rotax, dedicated on-track CCTV, control fuel from Vital Equipment and race management by Motorsport Timing UK.

With a record Junior Rotax entry, the Championship has created an all-new award for 2023. A new `Wera Cup` race will take place ahead of the Finals for those Junior Rotax contenders who are not lucky enough to progress to the final stages of the competition.

Dan Parker, Motorsport UK Karting Manager said, “The decision to hold the Rotax O plate at Whilton Mill has been really well received by competitors and teams alike and will see the first British title available in 2023. The new paddock and fantastic facilities will set the backdrop for one of the biggest O plate meetings for decades”.

“The new Rotax classes have also been well supported which is very encouraging and combined the huge Junior and senior classes will make the event a great spectacle that can be viewed worldwide.”
