The Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championships continues a busy run of form this weekend as Rissington hosts event six of the 2022 season [1-3 July].
The ultra-fast circuit in the heart of the Cotswolds will see contenders in the IAME classes tip over the halfway point of the season for their fourth points scoring round. They will be joined by the fan-favourite KZ2 gearbox-kart contenders who will use the high-speed circuit to its limits during the weekend.
The TKM classes will also make a welcome return to the BKC tour, having not tackled a round since Warden Law in May, and the Junior and Extreme contenders will undoubtedly be eager to get back up to speed and focus on their championship aspirations at their third points scoring round of the year.
It’s been just two weeks since the IAME and KZ2 protagonists were in action and Rissington will offer up fast, wide sweeping bends, a billiard smooth surface and big run-off areas, all adding up to make it one of the best drivers’ circuits in the country.
Friday hosts Practice for IAME, with Saturday seeing the remaining Practice sessions, Timed Qualifying and first heats taking place. Sunday houses the remainder of the heats for KZ2 and Junior TKM and TKM Extreme, Pre-Finals and all-important Finals.

Classes
IAME Cadet
Fusion Motorsport still enjoy a podium lockout in the standings heading into Rissington and its Jesse Phillips that leads the way by a single point from team mate Jorge Edgar.
Edgar nailed the PreFinal and Finals win at G-Y-G to close in on Phillips as the top two pull away from the chasing pack. Jenson Graham is some 21 points adrift after a shaky weekend in Wales with Henry Domain [Oliver Rowland Motorsport] just a further point back.
Watch out for the Fusion team working in harmony around the circuit to get the best lap times nailed during the weekend.

Junior X30
Gabriel Stilp [Croc Promotion] has been the name at the top of the podium for the last two rounds now, taking the win at a wet Warden Law and a maximum points haul in Wales but as the results of GYG are provisional pending a technical investigation, so are the standings.
Polesitter last time around Fionn McLaughlin [Fusion Motorsport] was Stilp’s closest challenger with Brandon Carr [ KR-Sport] close behind and that’s how the provisional standings look too.
Round one Finals winner Henry Joslyn [Mick Barrett Racing] skipped GYG but could well make it to Rissington to spice up the challenge near the front, although despite the points difference down to tenth, expect any one of the challengers to go well on the rapid circuit.

Senior X30
Bart Harrison [Mick Barrett Racing] started the GYG final on the front row but fell away to fourth early in the race, but still did enough to retain the lead of the championship. He holds a seven point lead over Harry Platten [BMR].
Platten was runner up in Wales after an intense battle for the second spot and edged out a gap over Aaron Walker after the Strawberry Racing driver suffered a cruel Final, finishing way down the order.
Thomas Fleming [DHR] has seen his season progress, taking the Heats, PreFinal and Finals win at GYG to sit fourth. All eyes will be on the racer to see if he can maintain that winning streak at Rissington.
Gus Lawrence [PF International Karting] narrowly missed out on second last time out so will be aiming to scoop his first Finals win of the year and sits fifth.

KZ2
Rissington is another super-quick circuit on the BKC towu which will suit the gearbox karts. Whilst GYG was arguably a narrow track for the racers, Rissington should see more opportunity for the moves they are akin to.
With FIA Formula 3 racer Reece Ushijima scooping top honours as a guest in Wales, things should return to normal this weekend as Warden Law Finals winner Charlie Turner [Rush Performance] holds a 14 point lead over an ever-improving Bradley Barrett [Sodi Vitesse].
Tom Adams [Rush Performance] maintains third as Dan Kelly [Andy Fairless Racing] recovered from a torrid weekend in Wales to sit fourth.
Former champion Joe Charlton sits fifth after a consistent run but not quite breaking into the podium positions yet this season.

TKM Junior
It’s been just two rounds down so far this season for the TKM youngsters and Leon Frost [TWM] has enjoyed an almost clean sweep of top scores so far. He has an impressive 25 point lead over team mate Olivia Jakins who started with second place at Shenington in the Final, but endured a tougher meeting at Warden Law to fall away slightly.
Luke Bate [RSR] is waiting in the wings just four behind Jakins in third whilst Wera Tools Driver of the Day Yehan Kallychurn [Klassen Motorsport] is just two more adrift.
The weekend marks the halfway point of the season for the TKM Juniors and they will all be eager to start making in-roads on their championship campaigns.

TKM Extreme
Much like its younger sibling, TKM Extreme has seen an almost full-house of scores from the series leader, this time in Privateer Chris Whitton. An impressive run by the racer at both meetings this season, see him head into Rissington with a 19 point lead over Sam Johns [TWM].
It was Johns who took the Warden law win last time out but Whitton was a close second and a sign of the battle which is likely this weekend. Discount third place Aaron Lask [RSR] at your peril though, after an improving score with every passing race. Joe Fowler [Klassen Motorsport] was forced to skip the opening round but won the Warden Heat and took third in the Final so expect more to come.
Kye Springfield, Lee Whittingham and Spencer Lane [RSR] all tie for fourth in the standings but at this stage of the season, you can expect some movement in those positions after a tough weekend of racing.
