The Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championships are delighted to announce a brand new look for the the 2023 Honda Cadet class which includes a new calendar and innovative technical regulations. The new-look Honda Cadet 200 category will create a truly cost-effective, sustainable class.
Adjustments have been made to technical regulations which will now see the new sealed GX200 engine introduced for the Honda Cadet class in 2023. The new engine variant has been homologated for use by Motorsport UK, and the sealed engines can only be sold, serviced and prepared by recognised Honda Cadet agents.
The events will also see a number of new innovative schemes introduced which will include the supply of dyno tested pooled engines to drivers that are the top the points positions after each event. There are also further restrictions on tyre usage, testing, and the number of engines that can be registered for the Championship – the events are open to both 950 and 900 homologated cadet karts
Britain’s premier kart series has considered feedback from competitors and also takes into account the desire from the class stakeholders to make changes to ensure the class returns to its roots of a truly cost effective class which can be raced at both club level and Championships for years to come. The new look calendar has ensured an exciting schedule of events for the year ahead, visiting a range of top-class and familiar venues across the UK which also includes a O plate at Whilton Mill In September.
Class stakeholder Anderson CSKs Russell Anderson says “This new structure will ensure all competitors have equal performing engines. We will see the drivers talent emerge. The top three drivers in the Championship points table after each round will use MSUK branded engines at the next round and this initiative will eliminate cheque book racing.”
Dan Parker, Motorsport UK Karting manger added “ The Honda Cadet class has been the starting point in karting for some of today’s top drivers including current Ferrari academy and current F2 front runner Oliver Bearman and many others – I am delighted to see the new approach to the Honda Cadet class from the stakeholders and we very much look forward seeing the class at the Championship this year , the adjustments made to the regulations should make for some great racing and with the other cost cutting initiatives will ensure the Honda cadet class has a great long term future both at club level and Championship in years to come.

The British Kart Championships continues to be one of the most competitive kart series in the world offering drivers from across the globe the chance to compete against some of the best drivers in the business.
2023 will see further enhancements to the on-track CCTV system, a new on-event app and further improvements in the race centre to ensure that the Championship continues to offer high-level, fair, competitive racing for all.
In addition to the improvements in technology, it will also continue with control fuel from series partners Vital Equipment, coupled with controlled tyres for all classes.
The BKC can also confirm that award-winning broadcasters Alpha Live will once again be providing comprehensive live streaming of each event. In conjunction with the series’ social media coverage, the British Kart Championships was taken to every corner of the globe, with an audience totaling nearly 6 million in 2022.
