Mini X30 Wera Tools British Kart Championships front-runner Henry Joslyn has been chosen to represent the United Kingdom in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

Joslyn was one of five drivers shortlisted alongside Scott Marsh, Archie Clark, Alfie Garford and Joshua Graham to take part in an Assessment Day at iZone Driver Performance in February.

The finalists were tested on a range of skills, including fitness, simulator sessions on both the karting and Formula 1 setups and a formal interview with the judging panel, comprised of Motorsport UK’s Karting Manager Dan Parker, Academy graduate and factory kart racer Joe Turney and iZone’s Neil Riddiford.

After one of the most competitive selection processes in recent years, Joslyn was eventually declared the UK representative, and with it not only earns the right to represent his country in the competition and support with costs from Motorsport UK, but also marks his card as ‘one to watch’ for the future.

Joslyn will also be given support in his preparations for the competition by the Motorsport UK Academy, giving him access to the governing body’s elite performance pathway, coaching support, and infrastructure.

Henry Joslyn said: “I’m honoured to be selected to represent the UK in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy and follow in the footsteps of some great drivers who competed previously.

“I’ll give the championship my all and look forward to working with Motorsport UK on both my development as a driver, and to join a rich heritage of British success in the competition.”

Katie Baldwin, Motorsport UK’s Competitors Pathway Manager said: “This was undoubtedly one of the closest selection processes we have ever had for the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, and Henry is a fitting winner.

“He particularly impressed the judging panel with his performance on the simulators and in the fitness tests. With support from our coaches and resources at the Motorsport UK Academy, we now look forward to working with Henry to ensure he has the best chance at success when the season gets underway in May.

“I’d also like to place on record my congratulations to all five drivers who were selected for the final at iZone. The event has certainly highlighted the strength of the karting landscape in the UK, and the future is looking very bright for British talent.”

Founded in 2010 and designed to help forge meaningful pathways for progression through the karting ranks, the three-event FIA Karting Academy Trophy boasts a star-studded list of former entries, including Formula 1 drivers George Russell, Esteban Ocon and Charles Leclerc.

Offering value-for-money international competition, the series equalises the chassis, engines, and tyres for each competitor to ensure a level playing field and put driver talent front and centre, supported by the CIK-FIA team on FIA Karting Championship events.

Genk, Belgium hosts the opening round on 12-15 May, with further events at Adria, Italy (16-19 June) and Le Mans, France (1-4 September) to conclude the season.
