Motorsport UK is delighted to announce that Bart Harrison will represent the UK in the forthcoming FIA Karting Academy Trophy. 

 

Following an assessment day hosted virtually by the Motorsport UK Academy selection panel, Porsche Human Performance and iZone Driver Performance Centre – Wera Tools British Kart Championship driver Bart Harrison was chosen to fly the Union Flag in the three-round series this season. 

 

Following a record number of applications for 2021, Bart, who also took first place in the 2020 Valencia Winter Cup, was amongst a high-calibre of four shortlisted drivers including, Ethan Jeff-Hall, Vinnie Phillips and Gabriel Stilp. 

 

The drivers completed virtual physical fitness assessments with Porsche Human Performance coaches focusing on strength, endurance, co-ordination and reaction followed by cognitive ability testing, while the iZone performance assessment consisted of a performance profiling exercises as well as discussing performing under pressure, preparation and approach. 

 

The day then finished with an interview with the judging panel, where there was a chance for the young drivers to share their karting successes, achievements, and aspirations for the future. 

 

Motorsport UK Competitors Pathway Manager, Katie Baldwin said: “All of the drivers performed incredibly well on the day, and the selection decision was not an easy oneHowever, Bart really stood out across the board and showed great determination, confidence and composure. Motorsport UK will be supporting Bart with preparations for the championship, and I am really looking forward to seeing him progress through the rounds and wish him all the best for the forthcoming championship.” 

 

The FIA Karting Academy Trophy will begin in Adria in April before heading to Wackersdorf and finishing at Kristianstad. All competitors are provided with a randomly selected OTK-designed kart with Vortex engines, ensuring that the best young drivers from around the world compete against each other on equal terms.

29 April – 2 May 2021 – Adria (Italy) 

17 – 20 June 2021 – Wackersdorf (Germany) 

2 – 5 September 2021 – Kristianstad (Sweden)
