Contenders in the Rotax and Honda Cadet classes of the Wera Tools British Kart Championships will kick off their 2022 season at the impressive PF International [PFi] Circuit this weekend [6-8 May] as the Lincolnshire track hosts the second event of Britain’s premier karting series.

The iconic circuit opens up the account of the popular Rotax Mini, Junior and Senior classes as well as the Honda Cadet category, ensuring a scintillating start to their campaign. PFi has the enviable marker as being the only kart short circuit in the country to hold an International ‘A’ Grade Track licence and the intimidating 1382m layout ultimately provides a searing weekend of action.

A bumper list of registrations has once again signed up to the BKC this season with the Rotax and Honda categories tackling a seven-round tour of the country stretching from Sunderland to Gloucestershire and visiting some of the best karting circuits in the UK along the way.

The Wera Tools sponsored series will see over 185 karters taking part with an impressive 59 Junior Rotax drivers providing the biggest entry list of the season so far. But no matter what the class, each driver will be eager to get a head start on their championship aspirations and grab the top step of the podium on the season opener.

Spectators are welcome to watch the action trackside, but for those unable to attend in person, series broadcast partners Alpha Live will once again be providing unrivalled coverage from the weekend with paddock news and race day coverage on the dedicated BKC Live page [HERE].

CLASSES

MINI MAX

Bolstered grids in 2022 mean the Mini Max class is looking likely to be an ultra-competitive offering this season with 40 contenders kicking off their campaign at PFi.

With last year’s champion Ethan Jeff Hall progressing into Junior Rotax, runner up Scott Marsh returns intending to go one better with the DHR squad. Adam Wooden had a top ten finish in the series last season and also makes a comeback with KR Sport whilst Aras Majauskis jumps from Honda Cadet to Mini Max with Argenti Motorsport this season.

JUNIOR ROTAX

Once again Junior Max will see stellar grids and blisteringly close racing with almost 60 karters assembling at the weekend from the category. Last year’s titleholder Dan Guinchard steps into British F4 so a new name will be on the winner’s trophy this season. Aiming high, Neo Clarke returns with Tooley Motorsport wearing the number five plate. Harry Linden scooped seventh in the championship in 2021 but makes a comeback with the DHR team this season. There are many familiar names on the entry list, with class graduates or returning challengers all vying for one of the most sought after titles of the season.

SENIOR ROTAX

Such is the popularity of the Senior class, a large proportion of the drivers that contested the 2021 championship will make a comeback for another shot this season.

Racing brothers Rhys and Kai Hunter topped the Senior Rotax tables in 2021 with Rhys taking the title in a blistering fight till the last. But it’s just Kai that returns to Seniors this season aiming to uphold family honours equipped with last year’s winning team DHR. ‘O’ Plate ace Lewis Gilbert was a consistent front runner last year and also comes back to the series with Potenza Racing Engines.

Sean Butcher was the Hunters closest challenger last time around and has his eyes on the top step with KR Sport, as Matthew Higgins is also looking at improving on his last season’s result of fifth with DHR once again.

HONDA CADET

Almost 40 Honda Cadet hard-chargers will head for PFi and having taken fifth place in 2021, Max Cuthbert swaps to SFR Motorsport for his campaign this year. Kenzo Craigie sticks with Ambition Motorsport in the number nine kart whilst top ten finisher Cole Denholm also stays with Synergy Racing Developments for his assault.

Max Gilman graduates from the Bambino class into Cadets with SFR Motorsport as does teammate Joshua Griffin.
