The Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championships are delighted to announce the Wera Tools Driver of the Day Award and Podium Points system, creating a prize fund of £50,000 ahead of the forthcoming season.

Wera Tools are furthering its commitment to Britain’s premier karting series with a new accolade to be awarded after each of the 10 events in 2021. Along with a specially designed trophy, the recipient will receive a comprehensive Wera Tools kart toolkit worth £2,500 – creating a prize fund of £25,000 for the season ahead. What’s more, Motorsport UK will supplement the prize with a free test day at a BKC venue of their choice in 2021 or 2022.

During each race weekend, a list of nominations will be made by the BKC team, with the shortlist put to a public vote the Monday after the meeting. The nominations will be made up of drives that impressed the organisers throughout the weekend. This could be an outstanding qualifying run, a charge through the field or a sporting act.

Members of the public will then have 48 hours to cast their vote before the winner will be announced on the BKC channels shortly afterwards.

As well as the Wera Tools Driver of the Day Award, Wera Tools will be awarding Podium Points to the top three overall and first privateer in every class, every weekend. As well as the rostrum trophies from Motorsport UK, drivers will be able to exchange the points for Wera Tools products, with a further £25,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.

Furthermore, race winners will also receive a limited edition gold visor sticker, with drivers finishing in second and third picking up a silver equivalent.

“We are thrilled to be announcing a fantastic set of prizes with our partners Wera Tools, and we really appreciate their commitment to help us turn our ideas into reality,” enthused Dan Parker, Kart Manager at Motorsport UK.

“The Podium Points and lucrative helmet visor stickers will provide a further reward to the competitors standing on the rostrum, but we are equally pleased to launch the Driver of the Day Award. This will not only put the spotlight on competitors who are having their own success, perhaps further down the field, but it also enables us to encourage more interaction on our social media channels as the followers and supporters of the series will get to decide the overall winner after each event.”

Wera Tools UK enthusiastic Managing Director, Ian Walford explains that “Both the Wera Tools – Motorsport UK British Kart Championships and this global tool company share incredible synergies. We have the “fast emerging tool brand” supporting and involved with the “fast emerging young drivers”. How could a link-up such as this possibly be better?”

Adding “Wera have Challenging the Standards within its DNA which is exactly what is happening in kart racing or any competition. We are thrilled to be able to be involved with our future stars right at the beginning of their journeys and we will endeavour to find ways support progression too through our involvement with the championships”. Ian’s message to all competitors this year is “look for the improvements, be Race Rebels and enjoy every minute. The Tool Rebels are right behind you.”

The first event on the action-packed Wera Tools British Kart Championships bill will take place this weekend at Clay Pigeon circuit in Dorset (22-23 May), with the Rotax, Honda and Bambino drivers getting the proceedings underway before the IAME, TKM and KZ2 classes get their season off to flyer the following weekend (29-30 May). You can follow all of the action live on the Wera Tools British Kart Championships Facebook page and on Motorsport.TV this season.
