The Wera Tools British Kart Championship reaches a thrilling climax in October as the PF International circuit hosts the final round of the 2021 IAME, Rotax, TKM, Honda Cadet and Bambino season.

Junior TKM championship leader Alistair Cresswell enjoys a 25 point buffer over Alfie Garford heading into the season finale’ and we speak to the privateer karter ahead of the weekend.

BKC: What has been your highlight of 2021?

AC: My highlights have to be almost clean sweeping Shennington and Kimbolton as well as having good battles with James Morley and Alfie Garford all the way through the season.

BKC: What have you struggled with in 2021 or was perhaps a low point?

AC: My struggle point in the season would have to be Whilton as I haven’t done a lot of laps around that track compared to a few of the other drivers and having a bad qualifying made it hard to come away with the win.

BKC: Coming into 2021 – did you think you would be fighting for the title?

AC: Coming into the 2021 season I knew I was going to be a contender for the British Championship as I was a contender last year and got the number 2 seed; [although] this also put pressure on me being the highest seed.

BKC: What is your approach for the final rounds?

AC: Going into the final round 25 points ahead all I need to do is finish second in the heats qualifiers and not get disqualified. This will be difficult as PFI always shuffles thing around and causes drama.

BKC: What are your plans for 2022?

AC: Going into 2022 there are many options ahead, whether it’s in seniors or cars; it all depends on sponsorship and funding.
